God is returning community to ministry. The way it began in the book of Acts in the Bible. Actually, in Genesis. If you look at it, God always began with an individual or a family; Abraham, Noah. A community of people or person who loved and served Him. With these, He would change the world!
Ministry was never meant to build empires but people. Your ministry heading or vision may be “nations” but the intent is not to conquer…not even for God, but to build (Isaiah 61: 1-4).
1“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins,
They shall raise up the former desolations,
And they shall repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
Not to make celebrities of ourselves but become servants of all. Slaves; to use Jesus’ term (Matthew 20: 25-28).
The deepest soul need of mankind, other than regeneration is community, connection and purpose fulfilled in serving within that community. This is God’s design- He is building us into a “house” not an empire or a business, but a house. And what resides in a house, but a “family”? 1 Peter 2:5, Ephesians 2:19-22
Let us return to Jesus’ model of 12 friends, doing life and changing the world. I have seen this model with my own eyes. I have witnessed the power of it to transform a generation and bring life to all who are touched by it! Matthew10: 5-8
“Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done. On earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10
